Dr. Altizer Earns Yet Another Title
On June 28, 2008 Dr. Altizer passed the Physician Vascular Interpretation certification exam given by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. This newest credential (the ‘RPVI’ at the end of his name!) indicates additional competence and skill in interpretation of vascular ultrasound studies. Although this credential is not ‘required’ for doctors to be able to treat vein disease, it is certainly an exceptional additional qualification that not many doctors have and indicates Dr. Altizer’s continuing search for excellence in vein care. Congratulations to Dr. Altizer for earning this additional certification!

Dr. Altizer Earns Additional Title
Dr. Altizer earned the additional
title of ‘RVT’ after his name. This stands
for ‘registered vascular technologist.’ This
new credential means that Dr. Altizer
has acquired additional skills in performance
and interpretation of diagnostic vascular
ultrasound examinations. These examinations
are critical to the success of our treatments
here at the Vein Center. Dr. Altizer
is now recognized by the American Registry
of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as
having successfully completed the training
and education requirements necessary
to receive this lifelong designation.
At the Vein Center of Charlotte, we are
always striving to improve our knowledge
and skills when it comes to providing
the finest, state-of-the-art care to
our patients. Congratulations to Dr.
Altizer for all
his hard work
in achieving this additional certification!

Dr. Altizer lectures at the American College of Phlebology
For the fifth year in a row, Dr. Altizer has served on the faculty at the ACP's Annual Congress meeting. This year it was held in Jacksonville, FL. Over 1,000 vein specialists from all over the US and Europe heard about the latest state-of-the-art vein treatments. Dr. Altizer gave a talk on Ambulatory Phlebectomy (removing big bulging veins through those tiny little incisions!) Because of Dr. Altizer's experience with this procedure, Dr. Stefano Ricci from Italy was chosen as Dr. Altizer's co-presenter. Dr. Ricci wrote the textbook on Ambulatory Phlebectomy! Both doctors showed videos of their procedures, and they looked virtually identical! (Ok, our videos were prettier, but their techniques were the same.) Nice to know we do it just like the guy that wrote the book!
Dr. Altizer also gave one of the most popular lectures all week, 'How to Treat Varicose Veins in the Hands'. The lecture hall was standing-room only and doctors were crowding out into the hallways trying to get in! We bet Dr. Altizer is asked to give the same lecture next year!
